As an interdisciplinary artist, I make drawings, sculptures, and assemblages of found objects based on my exploration of spaces in constant flux. Iām drawn to locations where elements collide, break down, blend, and transform over time. Shorelines, riverbeds, and forests are my favorite places to be.
I work primarily in ceramics, creating objects that appear to be unearthed remnants of a distant past. My obsession with clay began on a camping trip. Finding a lump of clay while hiking, I formed a crude vessel and put it in the fire that night. The next morning I was holding my first pot. That started my journey in ceramics, learning the process of making functional vessels. Soon I was creating sculptural forms.
I earned a BFA in sculpture from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I have exhibited work nationally and internationally, most notably DATA/FIELDS at Artisphere in Arlington, Virginia. For two years, my partner and I ran Peerless, an artist-run gallery space in Omaha, Nebraska, which focused on site-specific work, interactive installations, and sculpture. I now live in a rural town north of Portland, Oregon, balancing my studio practice with a career in video and animation.
